Emigration experiences of Mariusz Czerkawski

Mariusz Czerkawski was born on 13th April 1972 in Radomsko. He had his first hockey practices with GKS Tychy. At the age of nine he began playing for Swedish clubs called Djurgårdens IF and Hammarby IF.

In 1992, he represented Poland during the winter Olympic Games in Albertville. In 1994, he began playing for Boston Bruins in the US and made his NHL (National Hockey League) debut with that team.

In 2008, he retired, playing his last hockey game with GKS Tychy. Later he became a sports commentator and hockey manager.

He received the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. He received the honorary citizenship of Tychy.

Today Mariusz Czerkawski lives in Warsaw.
